This nutrient dense glycerite is packed with nervines to help soothe & restore the nervous system. Ginseng & astragalus are here to help you focus, while also adding an immune boost! Ashwagandha is also added for healthy stress response and hormone balance! Please keep in mind that many behavioral and hyperactive issues may result from poor diet and nutrition.
About the Herbs:
- Ashwagandha is one of my favorite adaptogens. Adaptogens are a form of herbal medicine that promote homeostasis and help your body adapt to stress in a healthy way by regulating the stress hormones (like cortisol) in your body. Research has shown that ashwagandha can help normalize cortisol levels, thus reducing the stress response. It is also useful for reducing inflammation, risk of cancers, improved memory, anti-aging, and improved immune function.
- Astragalus is a tonic herb utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine for immune support and anti-inflammatory affects. This herb naturally supports white and red blood cells, NK (natural killer cells), interferon, and the adrenals. In addition, it helps stimulate the body, increasing energy and vitality.
- Reishi is a highly utilized mushroom in Traditional Chinese Medicine, known as the mushroom of immortality! It was considered a tonic for vital energy, or Qi. In TCM, this concept is thought of as a force field around the host that protects overall health and vitality. Modern studies have shown reishi to be useful in cardiovascular support, immune support, promoting healthy stress response, and providing energy & stamina.
- Lavender is very gentle and safe. It is actually a nervine, meaning it will nourish and support the central nervous system. Lavender is also used to lift the spirit and ease feelings of anxiousness. Traditional uses for this herb include stress support, mood support, immune support, sleep support, and digestive support.
- Passionflower is another very nutrient dense nervine herb, containing phenols, flavonoids, tocopherol, ascorbic acid, & much more! It also boosts the production of GABA in the brain, promoting deep relaxation. Passion flower is also a natural sedative and has been useful in treating anxiety and insomnia.
- Oatstraw is a highly nutrient dense herb that comes from the milky oat plant before it matures. Specifically, this herb is high in minerals and trace nutrients such as silica, magnesium, phosphorus, chromium, iron, calcium, alkaloids, protein, the vitamin B complex, and vitamins A and C! Oatstraw is also classified as a nervine, which means that it works to nourish and strengthen the nervous system. These "milky oats" are especially useful during times of exhaustion, overwork, emotional trauma, irritability, anxiety, & so on.
- Oat Tops also known as milky oat seed, is a nervine. Making it perfect for those who feel frazzled, scattered, or overly sensitive (which are all symptoms of an overworked nervous system). Oat tops are harvested in the "milky oat" stage when the plant produces a white milky sap. When used in this stage, it feeds nervous tissue and helps restore normal nerve function and vitality. This herb is specifically useful for adrenal burnout, emotional instability, nervous exhaustion, anxiety, and stress. When we are overworked and burnt out, this herb provides much needed nutrients and minerals for our depleted system. Specifically, it is high in silica, magnesium, and calcium.
- Korean Red Ginseng has been used in TCM for centuries. Traditionally this herb is used for its immune and lung supporting qualities. However, it is now widely known for increasing alertness and improving cognitive function. Studies in recent years have shown promising benefits for decreasing symptoms of ADHD. One specific study showed that after 8 weeks of use, participants had improvements in social functioning, anxiety, and personality.
